The Peace Gong Haryana Chapter was launched on Sunday 22nd March by Selflessly Yours team.
The Peace Gong founded in 2012, is part of the Media and Information literacy initiative of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore Foundation. It is a children's newspaper aimed at giving young people a platform to write and develop understanding of issues of social concern and to promote child participation for community building. Its mission is to develop communicative, semiotic and cultural skills along with critical thinking abilities amongst children from mixed backgrounds so that they can negotiate the increasing complexities of today’s world and work towards a global non-violent future through the Peace Gong. It presently has a print edition, a web edition, a Talking Paper and a Wallpaper.
Peace Gong has been working with a number of UN as well as inter-ministerial organisations and has its teams from Manipur to Jammu and Kashmir; Kerala to Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal and even internationally in Nepal, Pakistan, Germany and Morocco
The Launch meeting of the Haryana Peace Gong Chapter, facilitated by Selflessly Yours, took place at a Tuition Centre for underprivileged children in Chakkarpur Village,Gurgaon. At the meeting Selflessly Yours released a documentary to bring about the contrast and comparison of happiness experienced by children from diverse backgrounds including visually impaired and differently abled children by conducting a reality check by interacting with around 45 children for the International Happiness Day on March 20th.
Peace Gong representatives and Selflessly Yours had an interactive session with 30 marginal children, where they were oriented about the aims of Peace Gong and taught how to observe and tackle issues pertaining to their lifestyle and society.
