Yashna Batra is a student of The Shri Ram School Aravali. She is the founder of the initiative 'Selflessly Yours'. She is passionate about engaging in benevolent, charitable and community activities of diverse nature but has distinct interest in aiding underprivileged children. From a very early age she has been helping those in need and making an impact through simple actions. She advocates the importance and value of youth involvement in community activism and aspires to ignite the new generation to this cause. Her passion for social service has caused her to teach underprivileged children, play an active role in the National Disability Conference and the NACG-INDIA initiative in support of inter-ministerial body named SAIEVAC to end violence against children.Apart from her passion for service, she enjoys writing and is a member of the Students Committee of Kumaun Literary Festival. She is also an active member of the environment club at her school.
Nazuk is an alumna of The Shri Ram School and a graduate from Lady Shri Ram College. Following a one year stint in advertising, Nazuk has been a part of Delhi's top Galleries, an Auction House and a leading contemporary art magazine. She has assisted in curating exhibitions of several renowned artists and has engaged in collaborations with various art fairs and biennales. Her entry into the world of art and an inclination towards music, literature and gastronomy, has only heightened her appreciation of the world's diverse cultures. Nazuk has worked with various animal shelters given her love for animals and strongly advocates a holistic approach towards health, fitness and general well being.
Anahat, a 16 year old attending The Shri Ram School Aravali, believes that each individual is bound to do what ever little they can for the growth of the society- Be it as effortless as bringing a smile on the faces of these innocent children. Having a fine interest in art, she works towards bringing creativity and innovation in everything she does. She has been a member of the Environment Club at her school, volunteered at the Jagrati School for the underprivileged and is now trying do her part through Selflessly Yours. Other than this, she is fond of ‘arguing’, or as she likes to call it ‘debating’ and uses this skill to excel in MUN conferences, within and outside her school. Anahat hopes that Selflessly Yours will be a forum through which the youth will be encouraged to contribute and yield to those who are in need, with one simple aim- Growth.
Sana Kapur is a student of the Shri Ram School and she believes in working for the betterment of the society. She has volunteered at Windows, the Art and Craft Corner for children and has helped by teaching at Senior Secondary Government School. Inspired by personas such as Adam Braun and her mother, she continues to work for the betterment of others. Sana is a part of the Environment Society in school and teaches art to children through a student initiative Changing Lives Through Arts. She plays the violin with keen interest.
Simran Pahuja is a student pursuing her IB diploma at Indus International School. Working purely with the philosophy of helping selflessly, she has regularly engaged in simple activities that make a deeper impact on activities related to Day to day living. In addition to being involved in Math tutoring for children in The Indus International Community School, she also has been actively participating in a reading program for the same.Tied up with Kalahalli orphanage, she is involved in the program working towards enhancing the lives of underprivileged children by introducing them to different outdoor and indoor games. Simran's involvement in community betterment also extends to blood donation drives and initiatives such as e-waste and waste segregation awareness within the larger community that she resides in. Always up for a challenge , Simran has also initiated fundraising for a community school library and a science exhibition for the community children and by the community children.
Mahima Devanahalli is a student pursuing her IB diploma at Indus international school. In addition to being involved in helping with the leadership summit for the Indus international community school, she has also participated in an initiative involving manufacturing of organic sanitary napkins for the underprivileged women in the villages of South India. She is also a part of a hard working team that undertakes Math and English tutoring for the underprivileged students of Indus International Community School.
A firm believer of 'Every Little thing makes a difference in the world', Mahima looks forward to taking the Bangalore Chapter of Selflessly Yours to another level in thei coming year!
Nimisha is a student attending Indus International School Bangalore. She has regularly volunteered her time towards activities that contribute to improving life in her community and has been actively involved with The Indus International Community School – offering free math tutoring for children, fundraising for a community school library, and working side by side with the children for a science exhibition.
She has also undertaken Math, Science, Social Studies and English tutoring for underprivileged children within and around the community she resides in.
Her work in the community also extends to creating material for an NGO that aims to help teach uneducated household help, especially women, basic computer skills, in order to increase their self-reliance and self-confidence.
Nimisha plans to use social media to spread more awareness about the activities of the Bangalore Chapter of Selflessly Yours and take it up a notch or two in 2016!
Abhinav Rao is a 14 year old from California. He is passionate about sports, particularly playing and watching soccer. He is also a huge promoter of healthy lifestyle with daily exercise and eating clean food. With his energy, a can do attitude and sense of humor, he finds common ground with almost anyone to team with or include in an activity. He would like to be a soccer coach someday.
Anirudh Rao is a 11th grader in San Jose, California. He is passionate about science, especially Chemistry, and wants to study Chemical Engineering. He likes to teach, finding it both empowering and satisfying. He has been volunteering as a math tutor at a local library for the past year, helping kids after school with homework and topics they have trouble with. He also served as a volunteer Teaching Assistant for a HTML programming class which included students in grades 3-8. Outside of academics, he is an avid reader, loves playing video games, and is a listener of several genres of music. He hopes his volunteering will make a small difference to the lives of people of the next few years.
Anuj Pahuja is a 16 year old living in Bangalore. He is an avid golfer and a spirited over all sportsman, and has taken part in over 50 golf tournaments around India. Participating in both individual and team sports, he has the patience, communication, as well as leadership skills required to work with a group of people of different skill sets. In school Anuj has an interest in Physics of the universe, and planetary science. He wishes to win the Nobel Prize one day. Apart from school he takes part in projects to spread awareness about proper waste segregation and protection of the environment.
