Sending children to collect donations is illegal

HYDERABAD: Schools that send children for door to door collection of money for various causes will be prosecuted under the Child Rights Act, said members of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights on Wednesday. 

According to the commission, various schools send children out to collect donations for various causes which is against the Child Rights Act. "This is like sending the children to beg and it effects their dignity. We intend to stop this," said Achyuta Rao, a member of the commission. 

The commission also said that action would be taken against the schools that involve in such activities and if found guilty, the responsible parties could be sued for a fine of up to Rs one lakh, or two years in jail.
