On August 15th, we celebrated the Indian Independence Day by volunteering for a Blood Donation Drive in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Bangalore.
We were part of a drive that had signups for Organ Donation, Blood Donation and Stem Cells. The process started with door to door campaigning and distribution of flyers. The process involved helping potential donors fill up detailed questionnaires, leading them to counters for Hg checks, general physician check up, weight and then to the blood donation station. We had to be prepared with another booth for any donors who could possibly need medical attention if they happened to be first time donors.
All in all, it was a successful blood donation drive where we collected 164 units of 500ml blood which were transported immediately to the concerned blood bank.
