A lot has been written about the importance of music in early childhood and a lot has been done to incorporate it in schools all over the country to some extent or the other. But what about Bridge schools with limited resources and possible lack of availability of music teachers to teach underprivileged children from neighborhood slums who depend on these school to ‘educate’ them and get them ready for the future?
The Selflessly Yours Bangalore team set out on a dual mission for two consecutive weekends this February to see how the bridge school children take to being taught light fun music by outsiders. This would also give us insight into how they would take to formal instruction for the use of musical instruments. How could we help to make that happen…..is what was on our minds as we left…
